Shine_as_stars (or Kallie, which is her actual name) fell heels over head in love with gymnastics at age 10 after watching Dominique Moceanu win Nationals in 1995. She participated in pre-team levels at a Wisconsin club for several years afterward, but being tall (over 5' at age ten; 5’10” today!) prevented her from progressing very far. However, she has remained an extremely dedicated fan of the sport! Kallie receives two gymnastics magazine subscriptions and keeps every televised gymnastics meet that she tapes – they date back to 1995! Posting on gymnastics message boards and making montages are other ways she stays in touch with gymnastics. Her all-time favorite gymnast is Courtney McCool. Other past favorites are Dominique Moceanu, Elise Ray, Jamie Dantzscher, Morgan White, Lilia Podkapayeva, Mo Huilan, Victoria Karpenko, and Andreea Raducan. She names Shawn Johnson, Hollie Dykes, Sarah DeMeo, and Ivana Hong among her current favorites. |

Kallie grew up in the Milwaukee area of Wisconsin but now resides in Minnesota with her husband, who is studying to become a pastor. She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
Kallie lists reading, watching movies, sewing, writing, crafts, housekeeping, and collecting American Girl items among her hobbies. She hopes to add an adult gymnastics/tumbling class and church choir soon. Kallie considers herself a big animal lover and has a cat and dog at her parents' home. Spending time with family, keeping in touch with friends back home, and daily Bible readings are also very important to her. She feels very excited and blessed to have this opportunity to write about gymnastics and is anxious to begin!
